My courageous mom

by | Jul 31, 2013 | daily prompt

Tell someone you’re proud of just how proud you are.

You were an active, restless and always happy, smiling old woman and then In one day you get paralyzed. Damn ictus. No way back for you, the doctors said after a long fight. Your mind is intact, but your body is deeply affected.

You never gave up. You’re 93 years old and you don’t give up. You’re still fighting, trying rehabilitation exercises, mainly to help us transfer you from bed to the wheelchair and all the other services we have to do for you. You never complain. You keep smiling and thanking us for all this little things we are doing lovingly for you.

You suffered a lot during your life when you were young. You survived a war, endured hunger, prison and prosecution. Always with courage. Maybe that’s what makes you so strong.

It’s difficult to understand why so much suffering in a single person life. You are a person on faith and are offering your sufferings to God praying for your children and grandchildren all the time. That helps you a lot. Makes sense to all what’s happening to you. You are thinking in the other life, in Heaven, where you hope you’ll be reunited for ever with dad, your first and only love.

Taking care of you is a loving duty that is easier because of the way you are.

I’m proud of you, my courageous Mom.
