Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch

Who did you idolize as a teenager? Did you go crazy for the Beatles? Ga-ga over Duran Duran? In love with Justin Bieber? Did you think Elvis was the livin’ end?

Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in the movie To Kill a Mockingbird. I am not so old as to have gone to the première, but I saw the movie when I was a teenager and I was extremely impressed. I loved, I still love, the figure of the lawyer honest and courageous, the loving father of their children so well reflected and the powerful story so well depicted in the movie. Maybe I was so impressed because I had such a big admiration towards my own father. Who knows.

Of course I liked pop music but not to the point of loosing my head for a singer or a group. Besides, the Spanish and Croatian singers I liked were not internationally known. I just liked them. I was studying classic music and I went crazy for Maria Callas and a Spanish tenor named Alfredo Kraus. Maybe I was a strange teenager. But this is what I remember.

Teen Age Idol.
