Just a Dream

You’re having a nightmare, and have to choose between three doors. Pick one, and tell us about what you find on the other side.

Last words, obituaries and now nightmares. Definitely the editors of the daily prompt are resurrecting the darkest themes from their archives lately.

In a clear day I’m swimming carelessly when suddenly I realise I’m completely alone and I lost sight of the shore. I don’t know in which direction I have to swim to return to the beach. There are big waves. I can’t see anything. I get scared. I get tired. I don’t know how long would I resist fighting to stay floating. Now the clouds cover the sky. A storm is approaching. I know that screaming for help is useless. But I scream. I wake up with cramps in my legs. I have been unable to situate three doors in this recurring nightmare. The only door is to wake up and get out of the dream.

Almost all my recurring nightmares begin in a clear day, outdoors. This time I’m a little girl and I’m doing some errands for my mom in the city. Suddenly I stumble upon something and fall down. I get dizzy and I get the sensation that everything is spinning around me. when I recover and get up to continue with my errands I notice that all the buildings have changed their position in the streets and I can’t find the way back home. I try one street and then another, I ask for directions, but is useless. I’m completely lost. I end in a cul-de-sac. OK, let’s say there are three doors (in my dream there is only one) I open the door and I find inside a big dog barking and grunting, guarding a very dark and black charcoal store. I get scared and I wake up.

Just a Dream.
