What do you love most about the city / town / place that you live in? What do you like the least about it? If you were mayor, what would be the most important problem you’d tackle? How would you tackle it?
My city’s mayor is being victim of what they call “escraches” or demonstrations often violent at the door of his home by unhappy officials with their situation. those kind of demonstrations are a trend in Spain nowadays against politicians. He needs protection to go out of his home and go to the city hall. But the worst thing is that among the demonstrators there are local police officers who should protect him. I wouldn’t like to be a mayor these days. I prefer a quiet life. And be able to go out of home when I please without people waiting for me, ready to bother me, yell against at me or even attack me. No, no. I don’t want to be a mayor.
If I hadn’t other chace I would try to do something to protect the neighbourhoods down close to the river from the floods. This year the defences had proven insufficient for the strength and the rising waters. I think we need stronger and higher defences along the river, and clean up the damns.
I love the old city and the center of the city.
I would invest in infrastructures to promote the local commerce and revive those streets with shops and boutiques that, last years, because of the crisis were closed. Now there is a recovering, it will be good to take advantage of it.
I would like to boost the cultural offer to the citizens now that we have important spaces for it. Precisely today I have been in the new Museum University of Navarre of contemporaneous art. We have the Museum of Navarre with exhibits from the times of the Romans to our days. And an Auditorium with a complete yearly program
I love the big parks of my city and its historic monuments.
And above all, its live in the streets, never boring, always full of surprises.
