What is the best dream you’ve ever had? Recount it for us in all its ethereal glory. If no dream stands out in your memory, recount your worst nightmare. Leave no frightening detail out.
Frequently I fall down because of a balance problem I have, to the point that now I have to use a walker to avoid wounds. Maybe this is the reason why I have a recurring dream since childhood.
I’m walking and suddenly I begin to jump. At first, short jumps, like a little bird just out of its nest. Then larger, graceful jumps, like a classic dancer who stays suspended in the air by the spell of the music. Finally I take impulse and begin to go up higher and higher, till all around me is air and I realise I’m flying.
There are no noises up here. No traffic, No asphalt. No hard soil. Only clear light, fresh air, and some birds flying happily around me. Somehow I feel safe and I’m conscious I’m enjoying a new freedom. I’m sure I can’t fall down and hurt myself. I love having a bird’s eye view of the city. Everything seems so neat and orderly. Squares and lines, with life. From up here I can’t see the filth or hear the noises.
I decide to follow the direction of the wind and fly over the countryside. Green and yellow in the summer. Bigger squares where the farmers have their fields, colourful and neat. I feel happy and healthy. I decide to go further, towards my loved sea. When I approach the seashore, I meet lots of noisy and fast seagulls. Too much for me. So I decide to go down to the beach. I land softly a deserted spot.
I end my journey with a quiet walk, my feet bathed by the waves, my face against the marine breeze, enjoying the sunset.
