I found this enormous fungus growing next to a very shady and wet path in a forest near Bilbao. I don’t know what species is it but I didn’t investigate. No way I was going to try a fungus unknown for me found in the wild. It was as big as a pan.
I love to eat fungi. Just yesterday I had for diner scrambled eggs with boletus and green garlic. Delicious.
But I never would touch them in the wild for myself. I’m afraid that if I bring some fungi home I’ll poison my family (and myself). I prefer to trust the man of the grocery store where I buy my vegetables. He is an expert And knows what he can sell.
