Help in the quarantine

by | Sep 16, 2020 | challenges, our life

Adrian Monk saved me during the most challenging part of the quarantine when we had to stay locked up at our homes for months last Spring, because of the coronavirus.

During those days, my depression worsened significantly, and not everybody around me understood what was happening to me. I felt sad and terribly tired of doing almost nothing.

Well, I spent much time helping elderly people to cope with the situation, doing for them little errands which they were unable to do. My main occupation was, as it is now, to take care of a 99 years old lady. She was a doctor, a pharmacologist, and follows the news about the Pandemic day by day. Her memory is damaged, so every day is a surprise for her, and she finds it very funny to see us wearing masks.

It was hard not to visit my sister and help her with her needs for so long. I missed her very much. she is my confidant.

When all those circumstances were threatening to drive me crazy, I watched a chapter of the series of Monk. His obsessions, his tenderness, his faithful love, his humor made me enjoy time without worries each day. And also give me hope. If he, with all his traumas, can be a genius, maybe I, with my little depression, can do something right. even in the middle of the quarantine.

In answer at Fandango Provocative question: Having been subjected to stay at home restrictions (to one degree or another) over the past six months, would you say that the quarantine has made you a better person? If so, in what ways? If not, why not? FPQ
