Never

If you could read a book containing all that has happened and will ever happen in your life, would you? If you choose to read it, you must read it cover to cover.

How boring! Me, reading my own life? I have better things to do. Living the few years that I have before me, for instance. Time flies.  there’s no time to lose. Besides, there are lots of things I prefer to forget. Other things that I can remember vividly and I treasure in my memory without need of a book. I would rather like to read about the people I’ve met during my life, above all when I worked as a reporter. Important people and common people who shared with me their experiences and then vanished from my life. I would like to write their life stories. Many are no longer with us. Others chose a criminal life or are in prison. Others are real life heroes living among us. As for the future, I prefer to don’t know what will happen exactly. Life is interesting when the future it’s open. I’m too busy living the present  and trying to do it the best way I possibly can.

Again?

Congrats! You’re the owner of a new time machine. The catch? It comes in two models, each traveling one way only: the past OR the future. Which do you choose, and why?

Again?

I won’t use the machine. I enjoy living the present moment. Above all if there is an only one way ticket without the possibility to come back from the past or the future. I think I would feel more curious about the future than about the past. We know a lot about the past. There are a lot of studies and researches.

As a woman, I don’t think past times were better in terms of civil rights and liberties for us. I would feel trapped, like in a prison if I would be forced to live in the past. I prefer to continue reading about those years and learning from past mistakes and achievements, instead of experiencing them for myself.

About the future, it would be interesting to know what big progress, if any, the humanity will achieve in science and other fields. But I doubt that humans will learn to live in peace which would be really worth it to enjoy. I would like to. But History tell us that there have always been wars. So, I wouldn’t like to travel to the future without the possibility to came back to my time. Who knows what could I find there? Better bad known than good to know.

I prefer to live my life undisturbed by time travel and try to make my battered world better.

One-Way Street.

Life is too precious

You’ve been granted the power to predict the future! The catch — each time you use your power, it costs you one day (as in, you’ll live one day less). How would you use this power, it at all?

Life is too precious to play this game. I have no interest in knowing the future, that I cannot change, if that’ll cost me my life. I’ll better confront the surprises of day by day and enjoy my complete time here. Not a second less. I wont give a day of my life for predict the future, even if this grants me a lot of money or fame. I don’t know much time has been given to me, nor how long will I last, but I want it all.

Advantage of Foresight.

I’m sorry

file000922635764I’m Sorry I have been absent lately but I’m so busy writing my book I have no time to blog. I already finished the researching (at least I hope so) and now I’m just writing. A writer who was my father’s friend, offered to read a few chapters and tell me what he thinks. I can’t wait for that moment. I know I can find his critic disappointing and hard, after all the hard work I have done, but I really want to know what he thinks about my voice, my style, about the story. (The story is great. From real life. Incredible. My writing skills are another story). If I pass the test I promise I’ll publish an excerpt of the first chapter here. I’m so excited with this project! So Again, I’m sorry if I disappear for a while from the daily prompt. I’ll be writing.

PS: Those interested in my book’s first chapter release will have to wait three years because this is my answer to today’s Daily Prompt: Ebb and Flow.

Let’s talk, no matter how

file0001152650686The language of the future: what will it be like? Write an experimental post using some imagined vocabulary — abbreviations, slang, new terms.

I’ll pass. I can’t even keep pace with today’s abbreviations, so I don’t feel like making predictions about how the language will be in the future. Call me a dinosaur, but I have to ask about the meaning of LoL and things like that. I can’t read a SMS or other text messages by my nephews and nieces without a translator.  For me it is like chinese. 我无法跟上今天的缩写,俚语,新词汇,所以我不知道该怎么写了一篇关于未来. (I hope the translator worked).

Seriously. I have no imagination for this. Languages change with society uses and I can’t preview how society will be a century from now. I hope will be respectful with the traditions and the richness of the language.

I know the language is alive and will evolve. I don’t know how will evolve the spoken language. I guess humans will always need words to organize and express their thinking. Even when it’s difficult to do so. I seriously hope people will continue to try to find the right words to express their ideas no matter how difficult they are, now and a hundred years from now, for the good of humanity. Better talk and try to understand each other than fight. We have too much wars and fights and too much need of serious talks to stop them no matter how the languages evolve.

Daily Prompt: 2100.
