Fall

Today, publish a post based on unused material from a previous piece –a paragraph you nixed, a link you didn’t include, a photo you decided not to use. Let your leftovers shine!

This is a picture I took for the challenge Photography 101 on the theme ” double”. It shows two benches, so it fits in the theme, but somehow I found it lifeless, boring and I haven’t published it until today. I took a better photo for that assignment and forgot about this one. There is a reason why leftovers are leftovers. Usually are failures we left aside because are useless.

This picture might illustrate an article about solitude, or about the autumn and the fall of the leaves, with the typical considerations about the fleeting time we have left. But I’m not in a mood. Too depressing.

Actually I like fall. The weather is not so bad over here, despite the rainfalls and strong winds. I enjoy the changing colours of the nature, warm colours, just before that the trees get naked for winter.

This year, autumn has come late and the changes in the trees have been quick. Now we have an avalanche of fallen leaves, and the city gardeners are working extra to maintain clean parks and streets. But with the strong winds we have these days it’s impossible. Sometimes it’s difficult to walk, above all if it’s raining and all is covered by slippery leaves.

A walk in autumn on the old city has its charm. I like to stop by the stalls of the street vendors of roasted chestnuts. I love to warm my cold hands with the hot chestnuts while I eat them in my way back home.

Photography 101: A Pop of Color

Today, pay attention to how color affects your images. Experiment with one color, and think about how to feature it prominently.

I pay attention to red. Red means a lot of things, among them warning and prohibition. These benches have in themselves a warning. Don’t stop! It’s raining!
I couldn’t help but take a picture of the leaves on the ground because how the color popped.
