Christmas lights

by | Dec 15, 2019 | challenges, photography

I’m late with my Christmas decorations at home this year. I probably will build a grotto scene starting today to have it finished next Sunday. I use to place the figures representing Virgin Mary St. Joseph and Baby Jesus, the shepherds, and the Magi into the chimney in the living room.

Then we will trim the Christmas tree, to have everything ready in time.

Here, in Spain, the season is more extended, and we have our ornaments decorating our houses till Epiphany, January 6th. It’s a big feast day full of fantasy because the Spanish tradition says that the Magi are the ones who bring the presents to the children.

The 5th at night, there are fantastic parades with the Magi and their heralds through the streets. It’s magical for the children, and the grown-ups enjoy the evening too.

Because I can’t show the ornaments of my house, I’ll show some of the illuminations of the streets around.

What beautiful, festive decorations! All that light, absolutely stunning! I didn’t know much about Epiphany, but in a devotional recently, the word means “appearance” and when the angel appeared to the Magi, who were not Jewish, God opened the door for all people to know and worship Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas to you and enjoy your holiday season!
